Betsy & Matt wedding photographer | La Crosse, Wisconsin

Monday, April 27th, 2009

After sunny 90 degree temperatures on Friday, clouds & cooler temps moved in for last Saturday’s wedding in La Crosse, WI. There was also very good chances for rain. However, even with the colder air and rain, everything just seemed to work perfectly for Betsy and Matt’s wedding. It seemed that every time we wanted to [...]

Lindsay and Mark are Married!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Jenny and I had our first wedding of the “season” this past weekend, and I think we started with a great one. Lindsay and Mark got married at the Brown Palace in downtown Denver, with their reception right afterwords in Ellyngton’s Restaurant. As soon as their dog Oakley got his own tux, we knew that this was going to be a ton of fun! Sometimes it can be overwhelming to start off the season with a huge wedding, so this was the perfect day. Lindsay and Mark were totally relaxed and the day went

New wedding photography business in California?

Monday, April 27th, 2009

New wedding photography business in California. If I charge labor only for wedding shoots and give pictures and cd disks away no charge do i need to worry about paying California for sales tax? I was planning on paying sales tax when I purchased the items and giving them away as no charge/free so California would still get the sales tax. Labor for wedding shoots is subject to sales tax in California if the customer receives any tangible personal property (CDs, photos). It does not matter wh

Arifah and Brendon

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Arifah and Brendon are one of those couples who are just an absolute pleasure to photograph. With just the two of them to photograph, we were able to travel easily from Chandler to the great court at the University of Qld and Kangaroo point for these fabulous shots. They were also very happy to listen to all of the strange sounding ideas of the photographer - I am sure if the practicalities of wearing a wedding dress didn’t get in the way we would have taken shots of the two of them climbing dow

The Other Side

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Should I look at the camera?” “Should I look away?” “Do I have lipstick on my teeth?” “Would it be totally unacceptable for me to just get up and run far far away???”   These were a few of my thoughts on Friday as 2 big black cameras stared me down.  That’s right friends, I have officially seen the other side of the camera. I haven’t had my picture taken professionally since I got married and I thought it was high time I update my headshots. I met up with Chad and Sarah , 2 other profe

Wedding with the Wiz and the elusive flower girl…

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Back in March I had the pleasure of assisting the wonderful Teresa Ousely of Wiz of Oz Photography with a beautiful wedding at Tanglewood Hills in Bettendorf. We had a blast, Teresa is so much fun to work with, I’ll be helping her out with a few more weddings this summer.  The adorable little flower girl above was probably our biggest challenge of the day.  So adorable & so camera shy. Teresa and I both wanted some pictures of the little cutie, but she made a game of hiding from us, but

Trash the Dress Round 1

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Saturday I got together with 7 lovely models and 3 other local photographers to do a Trash the Dress session in Kalama.   The shoot went amazing, lasting about 6 hours total.    I got some amazing photos and models totally ROCKED it!  I still haven’t even had a chance to go through everything that I got, but I didn’t want to make the gals wait forever to see a preview so I pulled one real quick for each gal to share on here.   There will be lots more to come later this week!
